What is OZONE ?
Ozone is a triatomic allotrope of Oxygen formed by recombination of Oxygen atoms. It is a colorless gas with characteristic pungent odor and can easily be detected at low level of 0.05 ppm. It is a very strong oxidant and is over 3000 times more powerful disinfectant than Chlorine. It disinfects, oxidizes, deodorizes, and decolorizes. 
OZONE Production
Ozone generation entails the splitting of a diatomic Oxygen molecule into two highly excited Oxygen atoms. These unstable Oxygen atoms combine with other Oxygen molecules to form the triatomic state of Oxygen, i.e. OZONE, Ozone concentration upto 3% in the Air and upto 6% by weight in the Oxygen feed can be efficiently achieved. For Ozone generation, the feed gas is passed through the Ozoniser consisting of electrodes with a dielectrics. A high voltage is applied to get a Corona discharge. This energizes the Oxygen atoms, thereby converting a portion of Oxygen in the gas stream into Ozone. Ozone formed is highly unstable and cannot be stored.
How disinfection take place by Ozone ?
Ozone is the most efficient natural Board Spectrum Microbiological control substance and very reactive Disinfecting agent. It destroys Bacteria, Viruses and Cysts in a very short duration, when it comes in contact with any media i.e. water, air or any food item. Ozone is considered by most, to be the best available technology and a better alternative than using chemicals.
Is Ozone harmful?
Yes, if the concentration of O3 is higher or inhaled for longer duration. As per OSHA and other controlling agencies O3 concentration should not exceed
0.1 ppm (0.2mg/M3): 8 hours or more / day. 
0.3 ppm (0.6mg/M3) : Maximum 10 minutes. 
Can Ozone be used for Dairy, Bakery products and other sesitive food products?
Yes, Ozone is very effective in reducing Bacterial load from environment and product itself. Ozone drastically increases shelf life of product and thus the products will remain fresh for longer duration.
